Unlike Android cellphone, iPhone does not allow you to use songs in music library as ringtone directly. In this tutorial, I will demonstrate how to make a ringtone on your iPhone using songs from your music library.
To make ringtones for your iPhone, you need to install the Free Ringtone Maker App on your iPhone. The app is for all iOS device, iPhone, iPad and iPod.
Make a ringtone on iPhone with Free Ringtone Maker App
Ringtone Maker App is a Free app for iPad, iPhone and iPod, which allows you to create unlimited custom ringtones, text tones, and alerts using songs from your music library. It is very easy to use. Add a song from your music library, swipe the audio wave to select a short clip, then save your music as ringtone. Besides using music from Music Library to create a ringtone, you can also load music from computers, your Dropbox account or record your own voice.
After creating a ringtone, you can transfer it to computer, upload to Dropbox or email as an attachment. Off course, you can use it as your iPhone ringtone.
Launch Ringtone Maker App(App link) on your iPhone and add a song, you can swipe the audio wave to select a short clip as a ringtone.
Also you can record songs or download music from Dropbox and save the music as ringtone. After importing music, you can tap the Save icon to save it as a .m4r file.
After creating a ringtone is finished, a window will pop up. Then you can set it as your iPhone ringtone through iTunes, transfer it to PC via iTunes File Sharing, email to friends, or upload to Dropbox.
You can find the created Ringtones by tapping Ringtones’ Manager.
Sync a .m4r file to your iPhone Tones list with iTunes
You can not use the .m4r file as your iPhone ringtone directly and have them appear in the tones list. Instead, you have to save those .m4r files to your computer and sync with iTunes to get those tones working on your iPhone.

Then how to find the ringtones you synced from iTunes and use it as your iPhone ringtone?
Tap the “Settings” icon from your iPhone screen, select “Sounds” from Settings list, then select “Ringtone” option from “Sounds and Vibration Patterns” list. Now you can see all the available ringtones on your iPhone, including built-in ringtones and synced ringtones.
Tap to set the ringtone for your iPhone.
